The Town of Beekman Conservation Advisory Council (CAC) is a voice for the environment. The CAC functions in an advisory capacity to the various Town boards regarding matters of the environment and the natural resources of the Town. These resources include open spaces, woodlands, wetlands, streams, lakes, recreational, historical, and agricultural uses. The CAC meets on the first Monday of each month in the Town Hall Meeting room at 7:00 P.M. The public is always welcome.
Significant Habitats (Hudsonia Reports)
Hudsonia biologists conducted a study from March 2008 to July 2009 to identify and map ecologically significant habitats in the Town of Beekman, producing a detailed map (and this report) through analysis and field observations. This report highlights various habitats detailing their ecological attributes, the species they support, their sensitivities to human disturbance, and offers conservation recommendations. It also provides guidelines for using the map and report for conservation planning and policy-making, aiming to protect Beekman’s biodiversity while addressing community needs.
