DANGEROUSLY COLD temperatures with strong winds will make it feel like 20 to 35° below zero overnight.
Exposure to extreme cold can result in hypothermia and frostbite in as little as 10 min. Limit time spent outdoors and wear layered clothing, including a hat and gloves. Check on elderly neighbors and do not leave pets outdoors.
IMPORTANT REMINDER: Dutchess County’s CODE BLUE protocol is in effect for anyone who needs shelter when temperatures are 32 degrees or below. Call the Dept. of Community & Family Services at 845-486-3300 on weekdays between 9am and 5pm or call 2-1-1 after business hours and anytime on weekends to be connected with staff who can assist with shelter placement.
