PAYROLL/ACCOUNT CLERK
Part-Time Position Available
17.5 Hours per week
Salary $20.00 – $22.00 per hour based on experience

The Town of Beekman is seeking a qualified individual to serve as a part-time Payroll Clerk.

Duties to include but not limited to:

  • Reviews, confirms and enters information into payroll system, including hours and benefit time, deductions, exemptions, garnishments, special pay factors and changes in name and address;
  • Balances manual totals with system totals; runs preliminary reports and registers to balance system and review for errors; runs final payroll and reports and distributes checks;
  • Prepares periodic payments for outside agencies including payments to retirement systems and unions;
  • Completes forms and answers inquiries from financial institutions concerning employment, income and deductions;
  • Enrolls employees into proper retirement systems;
  • Calculates and maintains accurate records for compensated time off;
  • Reviews and confirms salary changes resulting in union increases, longevities and changes in title;
  • Interacts with personnel from other departments to clarify payroll issues and resolve payroll problems;
  • Provides monthly data to US Bureau of Labor Statistics;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION:

High school graduate or GED required.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 3 years payroll processing experience. Working knowledge of general office functions and procedures; fluent in computers and programs including Microsoft Office (especially excel), Outlook Email and Internet. Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills, document management, record keeping and the ability to meet deadlines. Must perform duties with confidentiality,
